Last night we were treated to a couple of delicious cocktails as we watched the sun retire into the Indian Ocean.
This magnificently positioned Rock Bar is part of the Ayana Resort and Spa in Jimbaran, about a 45-minute taxi ride from Seminyak but don’t sweat, the fare was still under $15.
Having arrived at the resort, oozing class and opulence we headed through gardens until we reached the inclinator to take us down to the bar. Built around a substantial rock, the bar fans out on either side so the guests can soak up the panoramic view where there is nothing but the ocean and horizon.
Once seated by our host, the flawless service unfolded with fresh chilled towels, cocktails, summer rolls, rock lobster spring rolls and Goong Sarong.
Over the roar of the thundering ocean, the sun finally slipped away at 6.13pm albeit behind a cloud.
It has been heralded as one of the world’s best bars by authoritative sources including CNN and The New York Times, and in 2011 was voted Bali’s Best Sunset Venue in The Yak magazine readers’ awards.
The bar opens at 4pm till late but get there as early as possible if you want to see the sunset and avoid queuing.
