I was invited by Cruise World to join their team on-board Costa Luminosa for a ship inspection and lunch. So yesterday, I had a fun couple of hours on board while it was berthed at Auckland’s, Queens Wharf.

This Italian ship is part of a large fleet and delivers a true Italian experience in its look and feel. Twenty different marbles are used to decorate the walls & floors and literally 1000’s of Murano glass chandeliers and lights, brighten every section of the ship.

Luminosa means “lighting up the sea” and much of the décor and lighting does just that, along with a floating art gallery of 288 original works and 4,000 reproductions of famous works.

The theatre was impressive

It’s a large ship with capacity for 2,200 passengers so has wonderful on-board facilities and entertainment. Costa has a large selection of different sized ships, both larger and smaller.

Costa’s rates offer great value for money. Also offering a large range of cabins from classic, premium to suites, with inside cabins and cabins with ocean view balconies so there is something for all budgets.

Also available are the Samsara cabins for those wanting to enjoy total well-being during the cruise. With this choice of cabin, you get unlimited access to the spa and the Samara Restaurant, which serves light fusion cuisine for those health conscious guests… my kind of deal!

For more information about Costa’s destinations and itineraries contact their New Zealand representatives Cruise World.

This heated lounger in the spa was to die for!

Thank you to Cruise World for the opportunity to visit Luminosa and for the teams great tour and knowledge.
