I love Chelsea, London

I’ve just had the most relaxing Saturday morning, in Chelsea, away from the mayhem of Kensington and Oxford Street. The shopping is excellent and it’s like a neighborhood, with not too many tourists congesting the footpaths.

I found a particularly lovely spot, the Duke of York Square, just off King’s Road, about 2 minutes from the Sloane Square tube station. The Saturday morning food market was well underway when I got there and it wasn’t long before the duck confit sliders and fresh oyster had me salivating.

This little quarter, just off the main drag also has a number of al fresco cafes. I can highly recommend the Manicomio Poco, for it’s casual, deli style dining. The fresh figs, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto were mouthwatering.

And just behind the cafés is the Saatchi Galley. What caught my eye was an installation of ants, their bodies composed of cast human heads, representing the millions of displaced immigrants crossing borders in search of asylum. With what’s happening today, it’s very real.
